Tom Ham

Tom Ham
An accountant by profession, Tom Ham fell into the restaurant business almost by accident when his then boss sent him to scope out the financials of a bankrupt waterfront restaurant that later became known as the Bali Hai. That was in 1954. Within a short time, he was running the place, and by 1966, he had controlling interest in the bay-view dining spot. The restaurant became a success and provided him with an opportunity to pursue his lifelong interest: the study of California history, avid involvement in many community affairs, and the athletic and scholastic advancement of Californians. Today Bali Hai remains one of the largest original tiki temples in the United States. Bali Hai has been family owned and operated for more than five decades, and will always continue to keep Tom’s vision alive.

** Effective January 1, 2017, we will add a 3% surcharge to all guest checks. As a family we have decided that a surcharge is our best option to help pay for the added cost of doing business due to increases to the minimum wage, healthcare contributions and paid sick leave.
